NASDAQ OMX Nordic FoundationNASDAQ OMX Nordic Foundation was founded in 2005. Its purpose is to promote scientific research of the financial markets in Finland and Sweden and in the future also other financial markets covered by the NASDAQ OMX corporate group’s activities, providing impetus for increased competence and competitiveness for these financial markets. NASDAQ OMX Stockholm AB and NASDAQ OMX Helsinki Oy are operating marketplaces in Sweden and Finland. Admitted companies and members shall comply with the rules adopted by the NASDAQ OMX exchanges. A Disciplinary Committee may, in case of a breach by the member or admitted company of the exchange rules, resolve to fine the member or admitted company. The paid fine is transferred to the NASDAQ OMX Nordic Foundation for the promotion of the foundation’s objective. NASDAQ OMX Nordic Foundation has a Board of Directors that are responsible for the administration of the Foundation in accordance with its objective. The Board of Director has five members appointed by the Board of Directors of the holding company NASDAQ OMX Nordic Oy. Two of the directors shall have extensive academic experience within the field of financial markets.
Board of DirectorsHans-Ole Jochumsen, chairman, is Executive Vice President of Transaction Services Nordics. Transaction Services Nordics is an integrated marketplace of seven independent Nordic and Baltic exchanges, also called the Nordic Exchange. The Nordic Exchange offers trading of Nordic and Baltic securities shares, derivatives and fixed income products, all traded on highly efficient trading systems enabling easy cross border trading. Jochumsen is also responsible for Broker Services, NASDAQ OMX's offering of back office and custody solutions to Nordic clients. Lauri Rosendahl is President of NASDAQ OMX Helsinki Ltd., Vice President and Head of Product Management, Nordic Equities within Transaction Services Nordics. The Products unit within Nordic Equities is responsible for the cash equities & derivatives product management. The tasks include product development and change management and pricing structure of Nordic equities and equity-related derivatives products. Jarmo Leppiniemi, was in 1990 appointed Professor of Financial Accounting at Helsinki School of Economics. Jarmo became in 2009 chairman of the Management Research Group LJT. He has been a member of the Committee of European Securities Regulators/Market Participants Consultative Panel, CESR since 2006 and member of the Editorial Board of Verotus since 1983. Jonas Niemeyer, is Head of the Policy and Analysis Division at the Financial Stablity Department at Sveriges Riksbank. Prior to joining the Riksbank in 2002, he was an Assistant Professor in Finance at the Stockholm School of Economics. His main research interest were in Market Microstructure and Securities market regulation. Erik Thedéen was appointed President of NASDAQ OMX Stockholm in March 2008. He joined NASDAQ OMX in February 2007 as Head of Public Affairs. Mr. Thedéen graduated from the Stockholm School of Economics in 1989 and then joined the Swedish Riksbank. In 1992, he joined the private sector, JP Bank, as fixed income analyst and deputy head of Fixed Income Trading. After five years he again joined the public sector and became head of Funding at the Swedish Debt Office. In 2003 he became the Deputy Director General of the Debt Office. Before joining Nasdaq OMX Stockholm he was strategist at Brummer & Partners, a Swedish Hedge Fund. Apart from being the President of NASDAQ OMX Stockholm Mr. Thedéen is also Head of Nordic Fixed Income Markets. In addition, he sits on the board of the The Institute of Financial Research (SIFR) and he is member of the Shadow Council of the Riksbank, organised by the Swedish daily Dagens Industri. |

Applying for grants
An application showing your interest for receiving grants from the Foundation shall be submitted to no later then May 7, 2010. The interest shall be made on the application form accessible by clicking here. The Board of Directors will assess the applications and during June inform the applicants that will be granted funds. The grants will be paid out in connection therewith. Please note that recipient of a grant shall regularly provide a written report to the Foundation on how the funds have been used, and what the progress of the project has been. The recipient shall furthermore annually submit the latest version of any working paper that has been produced within the project and also inform the Foundation if the project is abandoned, materially changed or significantly postponed, and then repay the funds, or the remaining part thereof, to the Foundation.
